IMA National Summit 2012

home

We in IMA Vision City are constantly on our toes to discuss, think through and create new ways & means to be effective and help missions in India to be strategic in the task of discipling our nation. After looking at the feedbacks that have been received from mission leaders along with the research & spot analysis done on various think-tanks and after much discussion, we have modified the ‘think tank’ to ‘National Summit’.

The National Summit is an issue based programme. It contains Experts/ Practitioners’ View points, Workshops/Seminars, Group Studies/Exposure, different Presentations (of ideas, past experiences and case histories/success stories), Preparation of Strategies for the future implementation and lots of panel discussions/group discussions. The Summit will raise the crucial issues in mission on the particular focused topic; explore new avenues through brainstorming sessions so that the leaders would learn from one another through the sharing of Experiences & Stories. In each session, there will be time set apart for analyzing of models of success & failures and the same will be guided by facilitators. It is a 3 day working summit where everyone has to be involved in speaking, discussing, analyzing and strategizing.

This Summit helps the leaders to gather much information and ideas. It provides ample time to think beyond their box/world view/perception on the chosen topic. It provides room to ask questions to analyze the present context and set a road map, for the future of their own missions as well as Indian Missions at large, which would be relevant for the next 50 to 100 years.

Vision: To set a platform for the leaders to think, analyze & develop strategies on contemporary issues and create a roadmap for the future with creative and innovative mission strategies in addressing the challenges for India and beyond.

Objectives: To facilitate 4 National Summit for key leaders of various missions, churches and institutions to rethink on the latest needs/challenges, prepare appropriate strategies and thereby help missions in India to be relevant & effective in the presentation of the message and raising appropriate workers.

4 National Summit have been planned for this year 2012. The details are below,

1. National Summit on Church & Mission
The mandate of mission is given to the Church. We realize in this decade of Church & Mission connection in the work of discipling our nation, it is not enough for some churches to fund a few mission activities and stay away from the main stream of mission. The entire Church must get involved in praying, witnessing, equipping and giving for mission. If the 3,00,000 or more churches in this nation get involved seriously, it will not take long to disciple India. Hence it is time to bring a deeper awareness that every believer has the responsibility to proclaim the Good News and make disciples of Jesus Christ! But who will bail the cat? Who & how will this be done? This summit will endeavor to discover the ways & means to what is ‘mission of the Church’ and how do we bring the entire Indian Church to that understanding? The questions that need to be addressed at this summit are; ‘What is Mission?’, ‘Who is a missionary?’ and ‘How do we engage the entire Church in the larger picture of missions today?’
Dates: 7th – 9th March, 2012.
Venue: IMA Vision City, Hyderabad

2. National Summit on the Neglected Majority (Youth) & Missions
When we look at our nation India, close to 70% of the Indian population is below the age of 35. This makes India the youngest nation in the world. This young India is very complex and a dynamic society. Globalization and the Industrial revolution combined with the developments in the communication have produced a new breed of young people. Today's young people are highly global and deeply post modern in their ideas and views though the level varies in rural & urban context. This Summit is to rethink our strategies and be equipped to take the Gospel meaningfully to the youth of our nation. Probably the more basic question to ask, would be - Do we understand today’s youth – their needs, aspiration, thought patterns, concept spirituality, world views and yearnings for our message? This summit for the neglected majority will address this crucial challenge (WHAT & HOW) through presentations, discussions & plan of actions to influence the youth of India.
Dates: 23rd – 25th May, 2012
Venue: Vision City, Hyderabad

3. National Summit on Media & Missions
What do we do to see all the people of this nation worshiping our Lord Jesus Christ? The task is getting more complex. Hence the time has come to rethink and do something before we lose people into lost eternity. One of the means through which we can create an impact in a big way in the lives of the people is through MEDIA. Indian Media today plays a significant role in influencing the masses both positively or negatively. This summit will help us to find ways to present Christ message effectively through Audio, Visual, Print & Web media and to discuss on several media sources that are available for our missionary endeavor.
Dates: 17th – 19th July, 2012
Venue: Vision City, Hyderabad

4. National Summit on Neighbors & Mission
Our country has the 2nd largest population of Neighbors. The neighbors are one of the most responsive people in India than anywhere in the world. Reaching our neighbors in India is slow and inadequate because of lack of awareness and information. Indian Church & Mission has taken them for granted as the most difficult group of people. 14% of our population is hungry for the truth but our strategies are not compatible enough to make them understand the truth. Therefore Indian Church has neglected the 160 million people with a pseudo-perception that the neighbors are; Hard-hearted, Religious Extremists, Terrorists & Dangerous and/or Orthodox & Fundamentalists. The 300+ workers who work among them know that the neighbors are reachable & responsive to the Gospel. Our Indian Neighbors have the freedom to hear and we have freedom to convey our message which we rarely see in other parts of the world. But the questions that suppose to ring in our mind are; ‘Do we care?’, ‘Are we relevant in our presentation of the Gospel?’, ‘Do we share the right strategies?’ and finally ‘What do we do to raise more awareness & create new initiatives in reaching the neighbors?’ With this available opportunity & openness, how do we prepare more people to communicate the Gospel to this community effectively? How do we work together to see this entire community being influenced with the love of Christ?
Dates: 21st - 23rd November, 2011
Venue: Vision City, Hyderabad
